Feb 26th, 2016 – Nanoindentation Short Course

Nanoindentation Short Course

This introductory short course will cover the basic principles and operation of nanomechanical testing through quasistatic nanoindentation.   The lecture component will introduce the concepts of deformation using nanoindentation, Oliver-Pharr contact mechanics analysis to determine mechanical properties, system capabilities, and sample preparation.  An interactive demonstration will introduce attendees to operation and parameter optimization for soft and hard materials on the Hysitron nanoindentation system at AIF.  Users are welcome to bring their own samples (prior sample preparation necessary).

Contact Stephen Podowitz-Thomas at srpodowi@ncsu.edu for information and to register.
Course is limited to 4 attendees.
