Meet Aramenta Owens: AIF’s Student Worker

The Analytical Instrumentation Facility is excited to welcome Aramenta, a first-year student at NC State whose path to the university has been anything but ordinary. With a background in emergency medicine, strong academic interests, and a love for both science and the arts, she brings a unique perspective to the AIF team.

Before starting at NC State, Aramenta spent her gap years training with Wake County EMS. She earned certification as both a State of North Carolina Paramedic and a Nationally Registered Paramedic, a rigorous and highly respected accomplishment.

“In my free time, I can typically be found in the climbing center at Carmichael Gymnasium or in the practice rooms in Price Music Center.”
– Aramenta Owens

Alongside her clinical work, she also took evening classes at Wake Tech, preparing academically for her next steps. Now at NC State, she is majoring in Mathematics with intended minors in Biology and Piano Performance.

Aramenta first joined the AIF in January 2025 as a community college intern through the Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network (RTNN). After transferring to NC State in August, she continued her involvement as a student worker.

At the AIF, Aramenta assists with TEM and optical microscopy imaging, focusing primarily on preparing biological samples. She regularly works with techniques such as:

  • Resin embedding
  • Freeze fracture
  • Ultramicrotomy

Her work aligns closely with her long-term goals. As a Pre-Med student planning to attend medical school, Aramenta hopes to pursue a career in Forensic and Anatomic Pathology.

The AIF is excited to support her as she continues developing her skills and preparing for a future in medicine. Welcome to the team, Aramenta!
