Meeting Overview
The meeting will be held on Friday November 15, 2013 at the Hunt Library on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The meeting is expected to draw over 100 participants both locally and from the surrounding region. Topics ranging from materials synthesis, processing, characterization, biomaterials and modeling will be presented by both invited speakers and selected student contributions. Sarah Miller (Duke) – Emerging diseases and microscopy
David Cullen (ORNL) – Large area silicon drift detectors for catalysis research
Anne Marie-Valente-Feliciano (Jefferson Laboratory) – Superconductors

Location
The meeting will be held at the NC State University Hunt Library on Centennial Campus. The lectures, posters and vendors will all be in the Multipurpose Room 2110 on the second floor of the library. Please click here or on the map link above for location information and directions.
For those coming in from out of town and spending the night, please note that you are eligible to receive the NCSU rate when you reserve a room at either the Holiday Inn Express on Gorman Street or at the DoubleTree on Hillsborough Street. Be sure to request the NCSU rate at the time you make your reservation.
Student Poster and Presentation Sessions
A student poster session will be held and 3 student contributed papers will be selected for 15 minute oral presentations. When registering, you will be asked to indicate whether the abstract should be considered for a poster or for a paper (eligible for an oral presentation). Cash prizes will be awarded for the best student oral presentation and for the top 3 poster presentations. In addition, AReMS will be giving a prize for the Best Use of Microscopy in Research (poster). In all, over $1000 in prizes will be awarded. Click here to submit an abstract. Primary authors will be asked to register for the Symposium if they have not already done so. Abstracts may also be emailed to Fred Stevie at fred_stevie@ncsu.edu). Abstract deadline is Nov 7th.
Abstract requirements
- Emailed abstracts must be in DOC, DOCX, or PDF format
- Please use Times New Roman font in 12 point
- Poster size should be 48 inches by 36 inches

Please note that if a minimum number of attendees have not registered by November 7th for a given Workshop or Short Course, then it may be cancelled and those who have registered will be notified.

The registration fee includes lunch and coffee service in the morning and afternoon. It may be paid at the time of the meeting or in advance by check only.

Note: If you submit a poster you are automatically registered for the meeting. However, if there will be more than one author attending, each person will have to register separately.
Vendor Registration
