Kinga Unocic

Bio

Dr. Unocic is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University. She received her M.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland, and her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2008. From 2009 to 2024, she was an R&D Staff Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. Unocic’s current research focuses on developing cutting-edge analytical and in situ/operando electron microscopy methods to study how environmental factors influence the physical behavior of advanced materials. Her research interests include high-temperature oxidation, corrosion, materials in extreme environments, radiation effects, novel materials processing, alloy development, mechanical behavior, and catalysis.
